1/2 liter. Approx 11" tall. Deutschland Unity, Justice, and Freedom Stein. This stein's hand-painted rustical-style body features the German Imperial Eagle on the center front in crisply detailed and colorful, heavy relief. The Imperial German Eagle originates from an emblem believed to have been used by Charlemagne, the first Frankish ruler crowned Holy Roman Emperor by the Pope in 800 A.D., and was derived from the Eagle Standard of the Roman army. The base displays a banner inscribed with "Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit'' (Unity and Justice and Freedom). The sides depict architectural scenes from some major cities of Germany. They include Heidelberg, Munich, Rothenburg, Berlin, Frankfurt, and Cologne. The domed pewter lid is adorned with intricately-detailed relief banding.
