1/2 liter. 10 1/2" tall. Imperial German Eagle Stein. This hand-painted, cobalt relief stein features the Imperial German Eagle in colorful and richly-detailed style on the center front. The Imperial German Eagle originates from an emblem believed to have been used by Charlemagne, the first Frankish ruler crowned Holy Roman Emperor by the Pope in 800 A.D., and was derived from the Eagle Standard of the Roman army. The side panels display architectural and landscape highlights of the country including: Frankfurt, Cologne, Berlin, Lorelei on the Rhine, Munich, Rothenburg, Heidelberg, and the Neuschwanstein Castle. The upper rim band states Germany's motto "Einigkeit Und Recht Und Freiheit" (Unity and Justice and Freedom). The pewter lid is adorned with decorative relief banding.
